Catherine the second and Lemuel Cadot had several children, among whom was my great grandfather Lemuel Zenas Cadot (called Zenas). He and his brother John Julius Cadot opened a grocery store in Gallipolis. When the Civil War broke out Zenas helped organize the 91st Ohio Volunteer infantry. He went in as a major and ended up as a Lt. Colonel. He was in charge of supplies for the regiment.

Zenas married Josephine Carel in 1863. They had Charles Cam Cadot, Captain of a steam powered river boat. When I met him as a little girl, he was tall and ramrod straight, with piercing blue eyes, and a white mustache. Next they had Florence who died at age 3 and finally my grandfather, Harry Lemuel Cadot, born September 4, 1874. He married Betty Deardorff, on May 6, 1900. She was born in 1872. They had Charles Donald Cadot born February 5, 1902 and Ned Russell Cadot born in 1906. Their father worked as a ticket agent for the railroad and was mayor of Gallipolis from 1912-14. They moved to Columbus in 1920 where he was in the sand and gravel business.

Charles Donald married Marabelle Barbara Pleukharp daughter of Irvin Hiram Pleukharp and Lydia Anna Wittmann on October 17, 1924. Barbara Jeanne Cadot was born July 16, 1925. Carel Irvin Cadot was born July 5, 1927 and Judith Anne was born September 20, 1933. Charles Donald Cadot was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Atlas Brass Foundry Co. in Columbus, Ohio and died in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on February 24, 1967. Marabelle Cadot died on April 9, 1985.
