Ira Jones
Private, Co. E, 27th OVI

The three Jones men were all in the 27th OVI, which began service in the west and then later became part of Sherman's March to the Sea, ending their service at the end of the war at Johnston's surrender at Bentonville, North Carolina. Charles Keyes in the 123rd OVI was at the Seige of Petersburg and then at Appomattox Courthouse. Augustin Boice (91st OVI) and Perry Lewis Irvin (56th OVI) both served in regiments that were well known for their strong Gallia County connections, the 56th in the west and the 91st in the east. George Washington Fellure's 1st OVHA started out as an infantry regiment and was changed to an artillery unit in 1863. Ahas Guinn served in the only West Virginia regiment here. He saw action at Vicksburg in the West and later at Piedmont in Virginia. Israel Call served towards the end of the war in the 193rd OVI.
